Britam Holdings PLC today signed an MOU with UN Global Compact Network committing to address business practices aimed at supporting the Climate Change in regards to the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).
Speaking in his office moments before he left to attend the ongoing COP 27 Conference on Climate Change in Egypt, Managing director and chief executive officer, Tom Gitogo underscored the need for corporates by incorporating the climate change ideas as part of their businesses to address many challenges brought by climate change globally.
“Britam is pleased to join other 56th African Business leaders who signed the climate change statement that is to be addressed by the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on climate implementation Summit at COP27 in Sharm el- Sheikh in Egypt. It is to our detriment to serve many generations to come through observing environmental conservation for the planet earth”, he said.
On her part, the UN Global Compact Network Executive Director Judy Njino commended the role played by the private sector, in communicating the needs of their customers and realigning them with society expectations.
“We work with those companies like Britam to translate those commitments into tangible action within their business strategy and operations and to communicate progress with their stakeholders by addressing such challenges like climate change for a better global society”.
The UN Climate Change conference dubbed COP 27 is currently underway in Egypt with Top World leaders taking stock of its key contributions it plays in the mankind by addressing challenges of many generations to come on this planet earth,
