Morocco is strengthening its position as one of Africa’s most advanced renewable energy markets with the rollout of a new 90 MW solar power project powered by next-generation photovoltaic technology.
The project will deploy Jinko Solar’s Tiger Neo 3.0 modules, which are built on N-type TOPCon architecture, an advanced solar cell design known for higher efficiency, improved heat tolerance, and stronger long-term energy yield in harsh environments.
The installation is expected to play a strategic role in Morocco’s national energy transition plan, which targets more than 52% of electricity generation from renewable sources by 2030. The country has consistently positioned itself as a regional leader in solar energy deployment, leveraging its high solar irradiation levels and large desert landmass ideal for utility-scale projects.
What makes the project particularly significant is its technological specification. The Tiger Neo 3.0 modules reportedly achieve conversion efficiencies of up to 24.8%, with power outputs reaching 670W per panel. These figures place the technology among the most efficient commercially deployed solar modules globally.
The system is also engineered for extreme climates. With a low temperature coefficient of -0.26% per degree Celsius, the panels are designed to maintain stable output even under intense desert heat—an essential feature for North African environments where summer temperatures can significantly reduce solar performance.
Recent trade and import data suggest that Morocco’s demand for high-performance solar technology is rising rapidly. Solar equipment imports increased by approximately 46% in early 2026, reflecting both growing domestic demand and accelerated infrastructure rollout.

Beyond technology, Morocco’s energy strategy is anchored in scale. The country already benefits from over 3,000 hours of annual sunshine, making it one of the most solar-rich regions in the world. This natural advantage has enabled the development of landmark projects such as the Noor Solar Complex, which has positioned Morocco as a reference point for large-scale renewable deployment in Africa.
The 90 MW project adds momentum to this trajectory, reinforcing Morocco’s broader ambition to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels while improving long-term energy security. As regional energy demand continues to rise, especially in North Africa’s industrial corridors, solar power is expected to remain central to Morocco’s diversification strategy.
The project also reflects a wider shift in African energy markets: the adoption of higher-efficiency solar technologies that maximize output per square meter, reduce land use requirements, and improve project bankability for international investors.
