Founded by Atkinson, the company has made significant strides in promoting eco-friendly mobility solutions while simultaneously creating green jobs, particularly for unemployed youth across the continent.
The signing ceremony, held in Nairobi, Kenya, drew attendees from all 54 African nations. Heads of state, environmental ministers, and key stakeholders in the climate sector gathered to witness this unprecedented show of unity. The event underscored Africa’s commitment to playing a pivotal role in the global fight against climate change.
“This agreement represents a new chapter in Africa’s climate narrative,” Atkinson declared during his address. “We are no longer just victims of climate change, but active participants in crafting solutions.”
The climate pact outlines ambitious targets and commitments. African nations have collectively pledged to derive 50% of their energy from renewable sources by 2030. Additionally, the agreement sets a bold target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% below 2010 levels by 2030.
Sustainable development policies form a crucial component of the pact. These include commitments to green urban planning, sustainable agriculture practices, and the preservation of Africa’s vital ecosystems such as rainforests and wetlands.
